The answer is always determined by your hair inspo pic and of course, your hair length and thickness.
Are you ready for a truth bomb?
Hair Extensions are not ALWAYS the answer, especially for bridal upstyles.
With certain hair types and hair textures, we are able to recreate your inspo pic using hair padding with a dash of exquisite expertise, meaning you won’t need to spend $500+ on hair extensions.
Shall we dive deep into examples of when to choose hair padding and when to choose hair extensions for your wedding hairstyle?
Medium hair
For our brides with Fine + Medium length hair who have a dream to achieve a bridal bun
With the use of padding and 20” clip-in hair extensions, your dream bridal bun is still incredibly possible to achieve.
The only concern would be if your top layer is long enough/thick enough to disguise the extensions from showing through the top layers/crown of your upstyle, but this is something that will be discussed in depth during your trial consultation.
Finally, with the addition of padding, I would be able to transform your bridal bun with the length that has been added from your clip-in extensions.
For our brides with Fine + Medium length hair who have a dream to achieve a half upstyle or Hollywood Wave
I would 100% recommend 20” clip-in extensions [or weft extensions - if a more permanent option tickles your fancy more] to achieve your dream inspo!

Hair extensions hold the wave so much more in comparison to natural hair which is an absolute BONUS for the longevity of your hairstyle on your beautiful wedding day.

It is 100% possible to achieve this look with just padding for your bridal bun.
Absolutely, no need for hair extensions - as long as your hair is long enough to cover the bridal bun padding, I’ll be able to recreate your inspo pic with EPIC detail perfection.

I would 100% recommend Hair Extensions and I wouldn’t recommend any length longer than 20” so that we are able to achieve a beautiful and natural length and fullness.
At the risk of sounding dramatic, I highly recommended that for Hollywood Wave hairstyle [in particular], we book in for a cut and blend appointment [30 min appointment that can be included at the time of your trial] to ensure that your natural hair blends seamlessly with your hair extensions.
Long hair
For our brides with Fine + Long length hair who have a dream to achieve a bridal bun
Your heart is going to be so full to know that your dreams of a beautiful full bridal
bun are 100% possible with the addition of bridal hair padding.
Though your hair is finer, your hair length is all I need to recreate your inspo pic and create the detail of your bridal bun.
These looks can even be recreated without padding, however, the bun size would be slightly smaller but with the same overall look and feel.
No need for extensions [unless you want some serious volume!] to recreate a bridal bun just a whole heap of love, expertise and hair padding.

Are you ready for it…?
No need for padding but I highly recommend 20” - 22” hair extensions for extra volume, fullness throughout the ends and longevity of your wave throughout the day.
Depending on the current layering of your hair, it may not be necessary to have a cut and blend of your extensions, and you may only require a trim to create an even baseline for your beautiful waves.
P..S this is something that can be done on the day of your wedding and only takes 10mins.

Girl, you just need to rock up.
Unless you want insane volume in your bun, you don’t need hair padding or extensions to achieve a beautiful bridal bun.

My question to you would be, how much length does your heart desire?
Keep in mind that curls are bouncy AF, which means you’ll lose between 3cm - 5cm of length, so the real question is - are you happy with your natural length [ a smidge shorter]?
If that answer is yes… you don’t need hair extensions.
If that answer is no… you’re gonna wanna order 24” hair extensions for your beautiful wedding hairstyle.
